Arrive and drive to Shillong
Pickup from Guwahati airport or railway station and a drive of about 3 hours (100 km) to Shillong, with a tea stop at Umiam Lake. Check in, then an easy evening around Police Bazar.
Overnight: Shillong -
Shillong sightseeing
Shillong Peak for the view over the city, Elephant Falls, Ward's Lake and the Don Bosco museum, then the local markets if you want to shop.
Overnight: Shillong -
Cherrapunji day trip
Up onto the Sohra plateau: Nohkalikai Falls, Mawsmai Cave, the Seven Sisters viewpoint and the eco park. Driving is slow here, so we plan for about 2 hours each way.
Overnight: Shillong or Cherrapunji -
Dawki and Mawlynnong
A long and rewarding day. The Umngot river at Dawki, then Mawlynnong and the single-root bridge nearby. We start early so you are not driving the hill roads in the dark.
Overnight: Shillong or Dawki -
Your choice: forest, canyon or trek
Mawphlang Sacred Forest and Laitlum Canyon are the easy options. If you are fit, the double-decker root bridge at Nongriat is a half day on foot with a steep stair climb.
Overnight: Shillong -
Drop at Guwahati
Breakfast and the drive back to Guwahati airport or railway station. Please plan around 3 to 4 hours and keep a buffer before a flight.
